About me

I am a Yoga Alliance certified Hatha Yoga teacher. I am also a wife and a mom of three amazing humans. I have been practicing yoga since my early teens and I enjoy a variety of yogic practices, but for me yoga is about more than just moving my body.

What I love about yoga is that it truly is unconditional: anyone can do it! This is my message and how I choose to share my experience of yoga with others.

In a physical practice, yoga is about moving the spine (and everything attached to it) to keep it healthy and flexible so that we can go about our physical lives with ease. That can mean different things for different people. For a yoga instructor, it means listening to the needs of those that choose to practice with me and observing them so that I can help them reach their goals safely, and stay challenged as they progress in their individual practice.

Another reason I believe yoga is unconditional is that you do not need any fancy equipment to do it - not even a yoga mat. A simple towel or blanket will do. There are many other things lying around your own home or office that you can use in place of the blocks, bolsters and straps that most yoga studios provide.

All you need is a body, and an open mind to begin a yoga practice!

my yoga journey

My yoga journey began when I was only thirteen years old! I grew up in the inner city and my parents could not afford expensive classes, but I was naturally curious and found a free workshop at a local recreation centre where I heard about yoga for the first time.

Being a huge book nerd, I spent most of my summers before I began working part-time, in the library. I immediately began to search for any and all books about yoga. I spent that summer teaching myself the poses and how to meditate with the guidance of the many books I explored.

It was love at first savasana!

In my later teen years and twenties, my practice waxed and waned and it was only after my youngest child was born that I decided to look into deepening my yoga practice. I still couldn’t exactly afford the expensive studios, since I was not employed. Luckily one of my local studios offered an energy exchange: I did a few hours a week of cleaning at a local studio in exchange for free classes. I have always been blessed to have amazing instructors cross my path, and like many people, I tended to follow them. I loved how their teachings were unique to their own styles: some included life lessons or directly reflected real life experience, others offered a feeling of connection to something larger and a community vibe. I am still with this same studio - and have been – through their three location changes - and it is the studio where I completed my initial teacher training. To that training, I've added some fitness-style yoga fusion training, and Thai massage.

When I went back to my teaching career, after my children had grown, a fellow yogi colleague who had began a offering yoga to students discovered my interest in yoga and she approached me for help: her class was bursting at the seems, she could not possibly fit all the students who had signed up into one room! We split the class into two; I taught one group of students, in addition to the group of teachers I was already guiding early in the mornings. I haven’t stopped since then! I continued to lead high-school students during a built-in Wellness time at the amazing school I worked at! I also offered two morning classes for my colleagues on a walk-in basis. I loved sharing my yoga with them and seeing their blissed-out, calm, smiling faces after our sessions.

Now I am expanding: In 2025, I added an additional 300-hour teacher training that includes functional trauma-informed movement, and I will be relaunching my virtual classes.

I have also partnered with Physical Edge Physiotherapy. I will be teaching classes in-person at their Oakville location on Tuesday and Thursday. Check out my offerings for more details.

Online sessions will be in real time, beginning in the new year. Keep an eye on my schedule for upcoming sneak-peak sample classes. Click the link icon (top right) to access my schedule and see what's coming up!

I also offer private yoga sessions, for those who like to progress at their own pace, or prefer one on one attention.

Private virtual 1:1 consultations are also an option if you are self-motivated and looking for a taylor-made sequence, or if you need some tips and pointers to take your practice to the next level!

If you are interested in private sessions or a consultation, don't hesitate to contact me - or look for the 1:1 blocks in my schedule.
